About Mel, Our Founder
Hi, I’m Melissa.
I work in the space where good ideas meet real life and start asking for a project plan, a budget, a platform, six stakeholder meetings, and someone calm enough to keep the wheels on.
For the past +/- 15 years, I’ve worked across higher education, online learning, SaaS, corporate learning, partnerships, account management, and communications. The industries have shifted. The job titles have changed. The pattern has stayed the same.
People do not usually call when everything is neat. They call when delivery feels sticky. When the project is not quite in the right direction. When the LMS is technically live, but nobody is feeling calm about it. When the follow-through needs a little nudge. That is where I do my best work.
I keep seeing the same gap across online learning teams, universities, providers, and growing businesses. Organisations need support between the big idea and the daily doing, sometimes they don't even know it. HeySunbird exists for that middle space.
We help with the slightly unglamorous work that makes everything else possible. Practical, calm, and close to the ground, because that is where progress tends to hide. I have a low tolerance for fluff, a high tolerance for complexity, and a long-standing habit of calling it like I see it.
Outside of work, I am usually juggling a full household, a strong cup of coffee, and a mental checklist that has absolutely no respect for office hours.
